About Yellow Lanes
Yellow Lanes is an independent guide site that helps everyday drivers choose a radar and laser detector. We write for commuters, road-trippers and anyone who wants a clear answer before spending real money on one.
You don't need to know the jargon. We explain terms like K band, Ka band, lidar and GPS lockouts in plain words.
What we cover
Our guides compare detectors from Uniden, Cobra, Escort, Radenso and Valentine by range, laser coverage, false-alert filtering, phone alerts and how they mount. We also cover the bands, the rules on where detectors are not allowed, and mounting, power and firmware basics.
How we put a guide together
We read the specs, features and maker information for every detector and accessory we cover. We also look at what owners often report after living with one.
Then we turn that into short lists, head-to-head comparisons and plain explainers. Our How we research page has the details.
What we don't do
We don't make or sell detectors, mounts or cords. No brand pays us to rank its products, and we aren't affiliated with any maker.
We don't claim to have tested every product ourselves. When we pick one, we tell you why, based on its specs, its features and owner feedback.
We don't give legal advice or tips on avoiding tickets. A detector is a driver awareness tool, and the posted limit is the speed to drive.
How the site earns money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure explains how it works.
